Martial arts are rooted in the belief that a balanced whole requires the qualities of body, mind and spirit. This festival promotes core values inherent in martial arts such as honesty, integrity, humility, courtesy, and a respect for others without regard for gender, age, social and economic background. It celebrates the joy found in honest effort and the value of setting a good example to the youth and future of this art.

As Martial Artists we understand that our sport is more than just punching and kicking.  It is a way to develop oneself physically and mentally, as well as developing positive character traits such as self-discipline, politeness, loyalty and honor. A martial artist must be of humble mind and gentle spirit and follow an ethical moral code. It is essential to the event organizers that the spirit of fair play, courtesy and respect be exemplified.  Aggression, violence and/or arrogance will not be tolerated. Each of us has a moral and civic responsibility to reflect a positive and well tempered manner, remember your actions will become amplified and heard by the world.

                                             The tournament is open to all ages, styles and ranks.  The Martial Arts Olympics East-West Open is a physical competition involving a CONTACT SPORT that may result in injury.  As a competitor, you must clearly understand the physical aspects of the competition which may cause bodily harm.  It is the competitors responsibility to know their own general state of health and well being, and be able to certify knowledgeably that they are physically fit to compete and participate in the activities related hereto.

It is the responsibility of each competitor or spectator to have health insurance coverage sufficient to cover all medical, dental, and any other health care expenses for all injuries, minor or catastrophic, sustained or incurred as a result of participating in the activities related hereto, both now and in the future. Therefore, as a pre-condition to being permitted to travel and participate in the related activities, both now and in the future, you agree to make an informed and educated choice to participate or not participate in the activities.  Your registration signifies your recognition of risks and is an informed consent to voluntarily assume them.
